What’s a design classic? It’s almost easier to work out what isn’t a design classic. We take the view that, whether it’s historic or relatively recent, it’s a design theme that people return to, over and over again.
A great example is Sanderson’s patterns: they go in and out of fashion, but are always highly-regarded. In the same way, you can regard some of Emma Bridgewater’s and Cath Kidston’s plundering of C19th and C20th domestic design themes as classics.
